Rev those engines for an experience like no other. The Batcave features the authentic cars you know and love, as seen throughout Batman’s cinematic history. Check out each unique vehicle, spanning nearly 30 years of film history, including the Bathammer, Batpod and Tumbler. Our Batmobiles rotate throughout production needs and may not be on display from time to time.
Originally built on the body of a Chevrolet Impala, the Batmobile seen in Batman and Batman Returns was designed by Anton Furst. Drawing inspiration from Salt Flat Racers and Corvette Stingrays of the 50’s, the Batmobile was an aerodynamic expressionist piece of automobile art.
FUN FACT: The original ears for Michael Keaton’s costume were too long. He needed a custom cowl so that he would fit in the cockpit!
Joel Schumacher helmed the next two Batman films, with Tim Flattery designing the Batmobile in Batman Forever. Using a Chevrolet 350 ZZ3 high-performance motor, the Batmobile came to life with a brand new look and feel. It’s design is also inspired by bio-luminescent sea creatures, as well as both Tim Burton and George Barris’ Batmobiles.
REDBIRD Created using the design of an off-road motorcycle from Honda, Robin’s bike boasted 95 horsepower. Production designer Barbara Ling developed the Redbird with the help of TFX. Learn more about this motorcycle by checking it out in person. BATBLADE Designed for Batgirl by production designer Barbara Ling, this motorcycle takes cues from a drag-racing bike. Explore the unique features of this design- including the neon Bat-logo for maximum comic book impact- in person during your tour. BATHAMMER When Gotham City is frozen over, it’s time to call in your ice-handling backup-the Bathammer! With 3 meters of wingspan, the added stability to this Bat-inspired snowmobile lets the caped crusader fight crime even in the coldest of circumstances.
TUMBLERS Designed by Nathan Crowley and Christopher Nolan, the Tumbler was a new take on the classic Batmobile. Meant to look like a hybrid of a Lamborghini and a tank, the Tumbler is the more realistic, militarized-version of a real-life vigilante’s ride. The car even tested at over 100 mph! BATPOD Director Christopher Nolan created and designed this trimmed-down, two-wheeled vehicle with the help of production designer Nathan Crowley in Nolan’s own garage. It’s a two-wheeled vehicle, but it’s definitely not a motorcycle.” Christopher Nolan – Director Nolan and Crowley ditched the traditional motorcycle structure for a bare-bones version that still packs a powerful punch. Learn the fascinating history behind this revolutionary Bat-bike during your Warner Bros. Studio Tour.
Concept artist Ed Natividad, vehicle set designer Joe Hiura, production designer Patrick Tatopoulos and director Zack Snyder designed this updated Batmobile. At 20 feet long and 12 feet wide, it’s one of the largest vehicles in Batman’s cinematic garage. Locally built, the car combines stunning design with exaggerated military features. Find out more during your unforgettable studio tour.
