Celebrating LGBTQ+ Icons

Posted in Exhibits on 06/3/2025

In honor of Pride month, Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood is turning the spotlight on LGBTQ+ representation in film and television with a new exhibit at Stage 48: Script to Screen. This specially curated collection of costumes celebrates the diversity, resilience, and brilliance of LGBTQ+ characters and the actors who brought them to life.

Nestled within the immersive Stage 48: Script to Screen experience, this special exhibit invites visitors to step into the world of iconic storytelling through the lens of queer representation. From heartfelt sitcom moments to bold, groundbreaking dramas, each costume on display tells a story of visibility and pride.

Carol and Susan - Friends

Spotlight on Iconic Costumes

Among the standout pieces featured in the exhibit:

Jessica Hecht as Susan Bunch and Jane Sibbett as Carol Willick from Friends — The wedding ceremony between Carol and Susan was a landmark moment in 1990s television, bringing same-sex marriage into millions of living rooms with warmth and humor. Their wedding attire is a nostalgic nod to progress and love.

Taraji P. Henson as Shug Avery from The Color Purple — Henson’s portrayal of Shug Avery in the 2023 musical adaptation brought new depth to a character long celebrated for her complexity and queerness. Her costume radiates the bold spirit of a woman who defied societal norms.

Nelsan Ellis as Lafayette Reynolds from True Blood — With his fierce attitude and unapologetic style, Lafayette became a fan favorite. His costume, complete with signature accessories, honors Ellis’s unforgettable performance and the character’s cultural impact.

Murray Bartlett as Armond from The White Lotus — Armond’s resort uniform is a subtle, yet powerful reminder of the layered identities and struggles faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in professional spaces.

Leslie Jordan as Phil Crumpler from Call Me Kat — Jordan’s sparkly tuxedo jacket is pure joy in fabric form. It captures the late actor’s effervescent spirit and his role as a beacon of positivity and pride in the LGBTQ+ community.

The Color Purple

Whether you’re a longtime fan of these shows or discovering them for the first time, the Pride Month exhibit at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood is a moving tribute to the power of inclusive storytelling.

All costumes are now on display through the end of June and are included with general admission to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood. Tickets can be purchased at wbstudiotour.com
